Black dots in the eyes - this is a common phenomenon, which at least once encountered a large part of the world's population.

They can have different origins and are caused by both very minor disorders and serious eye pathologies.

Sometimes they are quite insecure and disappear quickly, but there are times when they fill a significant part of the field of view and interfere with the normal examination of surrounding objects.

What is it?

Between the lens and the retina is the vitreous body of the eye. This is the environment that makes up most of the volume of the organ of vision, it is filled with fluid.

When the eyes experience negative effects and their cells die, they accumulate in the vitreous body.

When such cells become many, their formations become large enough to cast a shadow on the retina. This shadow we see as points of black color, moving together with a look.

Especially often such flies appear when looking at bright light sources, as they are more strongly illuminated by cellular formations.

The vitreous can also undergo internal degradation. In this case, its tissues will be destroyed with the formation of impermeable patches.

Reasons for

Such processes can be provoked both by minor body disorders and serious pathologies. Among the variety of reasons can be identified the following:

  • Mechanical eye damage. Injuries and burns contribute to the death of cells.
  • Diabetic retinopathy, in which the retina detaches from the vitreous body.
  • Presence of foreign bodies and dirt in the eye.
  • Age after 55 years. The degradation of the eye tissues to this age is inevitable. The appearance of flies, as a rule, is accompanied with a general degradation of vision.
  • Avitaminosis. Insufficiency of nutrition of the eye tissues can lead to the death of a part of them.
  • Overwork and overexertion, especially too long work at the computer.
  • Blood circulation problems caused by disruption of the vessels of the neck and head, as well as by alcohol and smoking. Buried vessels emit blood clots that can accumulate in the vitreous and darken it.
  • Lesion of the eye tissue by pathogenic viruses, bacteria and fungi.
  • The destruction of the vitreous can also be a separate, independent disease that arises from a genetic predisposition.

Symptoms

Black formations in the eyes can have different manifestations. They can be filamentous and granular. In the first case, black lines appear in the field of view, which are woven into entire networks.

In the second case, the forms of the black formations are limited to dots. They differ in that the points arise, as a rule, due to the ingress of foreign bodies into the eyes, while the cobweb and the mesh are inherent in the internal degradation of the vitreous.

One of the main features of black dots in the eyes is that if you turn the head quickly, the dots will follow the delayed view. This is due to the greater inertia of the vitreous fluid.

In severe pathologies, points may be accompanied by outbreaks in the eyes and other visual impairments. Elderly people often face the fact that there are so many flies that it hinders seeing the outlines of objects.

Treatment and prevention of

There are two surgical techniques aimed at eliminating vitreous body defects. The first is called vitrectomy. This is a very complex operation, the essence of which consists in the complete or partial replacement of the vitreous body with a substance of similar composition.

Schematically it looks like this:

Applies only in cases where points in the eyes seriously reduce the ability to see.

The second technique is less radical, it is called vitreosilis. This procedure for laser fragmentation of shreds and other large formations in the vitreous body.

The energy of the laser crushes them to the state of many elements, too small to throw a shadow on the retina, as a result, black dots in front of the eyes disappear.

The operation is quite expensive, and also not always effective in combating small formations.

In most cases, when there are few dots, and they appear infrequently, standard local therapy with such drops as Emoxipine, Taufon, Wobenzym is sufficient.

The fight against systemic causes of the appearance of dots in the eyes is not superfluous: the normalization of blood circulation, the restoration of vascular health( especially those in the neck), the intake of vitamins and minerals in sufficient quantities. With this treatment, the points will pass quickly, within a month.

It is possible to use folk remedies aimed at eliminating this or that pathology that causes flies before your eyes. But to establish their cause in this case follows unequivocally.

A visit to the doctor is mandatory if the points appear after head injury, eye damage or burns, after accompanying painful sensations, with visual impairment. In these cases, black dots are more likely to be symptoms of more serious pathologies.

To avoid the development of vitreous destruction, do not allow foreign bodies to enter the eye, and if it does occur, do not rub it into the cornea, and rinse the eye with water.

Strengthen immunity to avoid infection of the eye with fungus or bacteria. Do not consume alcohol, do not smoke. Try to give the body at least a minimum of physical activity. Do not overexert your eyes, follow the prescribed by the doctor mode of wearing glasses for farsightedness or nearsightedness.

To strengthen the health of the eyes, vitamins are needed. Here are some of the most popular:

  • Vitrum Vizhn forte
  • Complivit Ophthalmo
  • Blueberry Forte

Results of

Detection of one or more black dots in front of the eyes is not always the basis for panic, as it may be a symptom of a simple eye fatigue or a small foreign body getting there.

But a large number of black dots that do not disappear for a long time, speaks of more serious pathologies in the vitreous body, for example, the death of its tissues or detachment from the retina.

In this case, surgical intervention is required, consisting of laser crushing of dead tissue or even complete replacement of the vitreous.

In order not to bring your eyes to this state, you should avoid overwork, mechanical damage and consume the optimal amount of vitamins.
