I'll tell you a secret: I'm terribly happy to write articles on the latest terms.

And thanks to the creation of such texts, I get new information and give you some useful food for the mind( at least, I sincerely hope 🙂).

Today I will tell you, what is coworking .

The topic will definitely be interesting to freelancers and everyone who works at home.

What is coworking?

I have a girlfriend whose main job is copywriting, that is, writing a variety of texts for money.

Of course, at first she received a penny, because while she earned her reputation, and it took some time to comprehend all the wisdom of a new business for her.

But gradually its incomes grew, there were new customers who loaded it with normal volumes of tasks.

The hobby turned into a full-fledged work and she began to spend 8-10 hours at the computer.

How to become a writer: 10 tips

It turned out that this is not so simple: interfered with household duties( washing, cooking, weeding the garden).

Plus, she was confronted with an interesting attitude of close people to her activities: her husband did not understand why his dinner was not ready for him( "Well, you were at home!").

Mom with offense asked: "How can you not come? You do not work! ".

In addition, she lost the incentive to look after herself, and normal human communication, too, was not enough.

And then, collecting material for writing a text, she accidentally found an article on coworking.

Coworking( from the English word-combination Co-working, which translates as joint work) is the activity of people of different professions and specialties who work in one common space.

My friend called several of these centers and rented a table and chair.

She did not need a computer, she came with her laptop.

In addition to the workplace, she received access to high-speed Internet and technical support - a local programmer immediately updated her antivirus program and put a more convenient browser.

Now every day she went to work at 9, coming home when at 16.00, when - and after 19.00.

No one asked her any more questions about the fact that she works at home.

During lunch breaks you could chat with interesting people, and new acquaintances came in handy.

In general, a friend does not regret a penny that a month pays several hundred hryvnia for a workstation in the coworking center and is not exactly going to return to the home-based work regime.

Who and how did you come to the creation of coworking?

People have long understood the need to group by interests, creating various creative workshops, workshops, cooperatives, etc.

The progenitors of coworking centers are considered hackerspace.

These mysterious organizations appeared in the 1990's in the US and Germany, because talented technicians felt the need to work in the same space with the same kind of nuts genius who would understand computer slang and technor humor.

The first coworking center was opened in 2005 in San Francisco( USA).

His inspiration was the programmer Brad Newberg, who considered work at home completely unproductive and suffered from a lack of communication.

Newber registered his organization as a non-profit and began to lure partners with promises of joint lunches and bike rides, spiritual conversations and yoga.

It worked: his coworking center became incredibly popular.

Gradually more and more freelancers, programmers and creative personalities wanted to share the common office space, and not work at home, stupid without communication and distracted by the TV.

Coworkers began to appear in England, Germany, Japan, France, Russia, Ukraine and other countries.

Why is coworking better than working at home?

Many freelancers do not understand why to spend money on how to rent a workplace.

Today, even in a remote village you can spend the Internet, and with the purchase of a computer no problems.

In addition, at home you can sleep as much as you like, work in your favorite stretched sports.

Why create unnecessary problems?

These arguments, of course, have the right to life, but remember that the work of the house, in addition to many advantages, has a number of drawbacks:

  • You get lost working schedule: you sleep up to 10 hours, then slowly breakfast, stick to the Internet, andOnly closer to dinner start work.

    Thus, the most productive morning hours are lost.

  • You stop caring for yourself.

    Manicure, pedicure, hairstyles, new clothes, slim fit figure - all this is useless, because no one sees you at home.

    For women, the outward appearance is a verdict.

  • You can not always tune into the working mood: the bed beckons back, an interesting movie is on TV, a mountain of unwashed dishes reproachfully looks, etc.
  • You do not communicate with people and start to step away from them, and this is dangerous, because it is possible that sooner or later you will return to the office.

This, of course, is not all the disadvantages of working at home, there are others.

You can fix everything by renting an office.

To rent a room for one person is stupid and expensive, that's why the rent is divided into many, because freelancers need not so much work space.

The main advantages of coworking before working at home:

  • being among people who are close in spirit;
  • live communication;
  • presence of a place where you can dress beautifully, make up, make a hairdo;
  • technical support, cleaning the room, the presence of a security guard;
  • high-speed internet;
  • possibility to get new useful acquaintances;
  • discipline and schedule that do not allow to relax and laze;
  • increase in labor productivity;
  • no one will have to explain how you, sitting at home, manage to make money.
