Indeed, all these qualities a good writer should possess, but literary talent is a gift that you received at birth, but it is not enough to leave your mark in the literature.

How could I become a writer?

I'll tell you my terrible secret: in my youth I wrote poetry, and even visited the literary circle where I was told how to become a writer .

Of course, there were quite jagged sets of letters among my works, but some were praised by members of the Writers' Union of Ukraine who conducted classes with us.

The last grades of the school and the first courses of the university, I worked particularly productively and today I store, as a memory, a few written out notebooks.

The last years of study were very busy, so it was not up to writing.

I created my last verse many years ago.

And now look: I had embryos of literary talent - it was recognized by experienced poets, but I never became a writer, and I did not intend to, frankly.

In order to truly conquer the literary Olympus in addition to talent, you will need:

  1. The colossal working capacity of - between the ideas floating in your head and the book in a beautiful cover hide hundreds of hours of routine work.
  2. Literacy - no corrector can correct the opus with a huge number of errors.
  3. Perseverance - if you want to create at least one book in this life, then you have to spend many hours at the computer, not being distracted by social networks.
  4. Constant self-education - many writers keep diaries, where they write down sentences, beautiful figures of speech, seen domestic scenes and stuff, not because they have nothing to do, but because all this can be useful for them to work. Well, of course, there will be a lot to read.
  5. Life experience - a sixteen-year-old girl who created a literary masterpiece - is, rather, an exception to the rules. In your work, you must convey to people knowledge, impressions, and where can they come from at an early age?

How to become a writer: the advice of the master

To learn from the experience of older colleagues is not a shame.

For some time I talked with the famous Ukrainian writer - the winner of Shevchenko Prize, and he told me how to become a writer , and told about his principles of literary work.

  1. Take note of everything that is happening around you.

You should not just go to the market for shopping, and try to find new stories.

  2. Watch people constantly.

Half the success of the work are characters you believe.

You must not think out what the teacher would do in this situation, but know exactly the algorithm of his actions.

  3. Take care of the details.

If you write about a profession, then collect as much information as possible, enlisting the support of specialists if necessary.

If you write about the work of a programmer, be prepared for the programmer to read the book, but if he sees any nonsense about his profession, he simply will not read further.

  4. Write simply and beautifully.

The proposal, the size of the page, and without punctuation marks - a fashionable trend that will soon pass.

The reader should understand you, but you can not go down to the level of a fifth grader.

  5. Prepare for failure.

Even if you created a work that you consider a masterpiece, be prepared for the fact that publishers have an opposite opinion about him.

  6. Write each piece as if it were the last thing in your life.

Reflections: "Oh well, it's just a little story for the magazine" - unworthy of the writer.

Even the quatrains on the postcard should be written with maximum impact.

  7. Remember that being a writer is not entertainment, but work that needs to be given at least 5 hours a day.

If the text is not being promoted, then read something that will help you find the strings for the story.

How to find your calling: 5 steps

  8. Each of your works should teach something good, but get rid of the mentoring tone.

You should teach unobtrusively, through humor, lyrics, drama, but not on the forehead.

  9. The tie and ending are the most important parts of the work.

The reader evaluates the first pages of the book and if they seem to him unworthy of attention, he will simply stop reading further.

But the unfortunate ending will lead to irritation, which will result in a promise: "I will never buy this author's book again!"

  10. Do not pursue literary prizes.

Work for the reader, and you will find diplomas and medals yourself.

And even if they do not, then, in my opinion, it is much more important that whole generations are read by your works, than to create something that even the members of the commission that awarded you the diploma could not master.

as ordinary people become writers!

But most importantly - choosing a hard work of writing, think carefully.
