Hypromellose - protector of the epithelium of the cornea

click fraud protection

Hypromellose is referred to as a protector of the epithelium of the cornea, which has a lubricating and softening effect with a decrease in the secretion of tear fluid.

The preparation has a high viscosity, due to which the contact of hypromellose with the cornea of the eye is prolonged. The refractive index is as close as possible to natural tear.

Restores and stabilizes the optical characteristics of the tear film. Protects the cornea of the eye with reduced fluid secretion, can increase the effect of other drops for the eyes.

Side effects

The use of hypromellosis can cause the following undesirable reactions:

  • allergy to the components that are included in the preparation,
  • feeling of gluing the eyelids( since a drug solution of sufficiently high viscosity),
  • short blurred vision after direct use,
  • burning sensation in the eye,
  • irritation of the mucous membrane.

Application and dosing

Hypromellose is instilled locally, the usual dose is 2 drops 8 times a day in the conjunctival sac. If necessary, you can drip every 2 drops. The course of treatment is 2 weeks.

For additional studies( gonioscopy, electrooculography, electro-retinography, echobiometric examination of the bottom of the eyeball, 1-2 drops are instilled once.)

Special instructions

Before using this medication, the following guidelines should be observed:

  1. Contact lenses before instillation should be removed and installed no earlier than40 minutes after the direct administration of the drug.
  2. When blurred vision is recommended to refrain from driving the transportfunds and activities that require special attention and speed of reactions.

Analogues

This medication has analogues, which by action are as much as possible to the original, but differ in cost.

  1. Defisles .As well as hypromellosis, it is a protector of the epithelial tissue of the cornea of the eye. It is able to have a protective and moisturizing effect on the cornea with a decrease in secretion of tear fluid secretions. Similarly to hypromellose, this preparation has a viscous structure, which greatly prolongs the duration of the action of the solution with the cornea of the eye. The refractive index of one to one corresponds to a natural tear. The effect of the defix stabilizes, restores and reproduces all the optical parameters of the tear film. The cost of this analogue is 42 rubles in Russia and 12 UAH in Ukraine.
  2. Artificial tear .This tool is used in ophthalmology locally. The active ingredient - hypromellose - is a rejuvenator of the corneal epithelium, and also has an emollient and lubricating effect, has an ultrahigh viscosity, which can increase the duration of contact of this solution with the cornea. The price - almost corresponds to the original and is 110 rubles in Russia and 33 hryvnia in Ukraine.

  3. Lakrisin is a complete analogue of hypromellose in action and price.

  4. Ophthalmoferon .The drug is able to have an antiviral and immunomodulatory effect. The therapeutic effect of the drug is due to its composition: the main component - interferon, an auxiliary - diphenhydramine. There are substances in the composition that perform the function of artificial tears, thus prolonging the effect of the drug.

  5. Taufon. Eye drops, which are used in cases of dystrophic eye diseases. Excellent stimulate energy and metabolic processes in all tissues of the eyes, accelerates the healing process in cases of injury to the cornea. The drops are absolutely harmless, except for hypersensitivity.
  6. Slezin. Refers to keratoprotective drugs, the basis of which is an artificial tear. Used to protect and intensively moisturize the cornea of the eye, as well as to increase the stability of tear film. The use of teardrop for pregnant women is prescribed only if the benefit for the expectant mother is significantly higher than the estimated risk for the unborn child. If contact lenses are used, they must be removed and reinstalled before instillation of the preparation, but not earlier than one hour after use.
