Composition and Form Release
The cushioning material includes two main components:
- powder , which is alumo-fluorosilicate glass made by sintering aluminum fluoride, silicon oxide, strontium oxide, zinc oxide, magnesium oxide and ammonium fluoride;
- liquid is a modified and photosensitive polyalkenic acid.
The set includes: a measuring spoon and paper strips for the preparation of a mixture. The composition of the preparation has the main characteristics of these glass ionomers.
Efficiency and principle of operation
Light-curing glass ionomer Vitrebond has a restorative and curative effect. Its use eliminates the recurrence of caries. The material has a number of undoubted advantages:
- creates a strong connection with the internal tissues of the tooth;
- provides a tight fit to the edges of the cavity;
- releases fluoride for a long period;
- has good biocompatibility with tissues;
- after photopolymerization, etching with orthophosphoric acid is possible;
- has a special strength due to the plastic matrix;
- does not crack when overdrying.
The material has a light curing principle. Its main advantage is a relatively long period of working time and a fast hardening process.
Purpose and scope of use
Vitrebond is used as a strong seal for any type of seal. It is necessary for the treatment of deep and medium caries.
The use of the material provides:
- to reduce the negative effect of polymerization on the dental tissue;
- protection of pulp from chemical irritants.
Glass ionomer can be safely applied to metal and ceramics, amalgam and composites.
Filling material Vitrebond is indicated for use as a liner:
- for the treatment of medium and deep caries;
- under the seal, if the tooth is treated at a time;
- in carious cavity with increased C-factor, under the composite seal;
Also the agent is used as an insulating pad to stop further destruction in the presence of deep caries;
Specific instructions
The composition contains substances that can cause an allergic reaction. Do not use Vitrebond to treat patients who are allergic to acrylic resins. The reaction occurs when the mixture is in contact with the skin.
To reduce the risk of allergies, it is necessary to shorten the contact time with the working material. If the product gets on the skin, you should quickly rinse the affected area with soap and water.
Powder together with a liquid possess a high photosensitivity, therefore they must be protected from exposure to light.
Method of application
No application of dentine before application. This can reduce the adhesive properties of the mixture. The procedure for working with the material is as follows:
- open the lid, remove the protective film, close the lid tightly;
- the jar to shake to maintain the flowability of the components;
- use a special spoon to collect the product, pouring the surplus to the marked measurement;
- pour the measured amount into the mixing compartment;
- flip the liquid bottle down, drop one drop into the powder;
- for changing the consistency of the mixture, it is permissible to change the ratio of the constituent components;
- mix the components using a special spatula;
- to mix quickly( no more than 15 seconds), the mixture should be homogeneous with a shiny surface;
- clean the tooth cavity;
- apply a thin layer to the dentine by using the required tool;
- light irradiation for up to 30 seconds using a photopolymerization unit;
- apply a second layer( about 2 ml), also followed by photopolymerization;
For the best interaction of the Vitrebond gasket with the filling material, it is best to use the Bond adhesive tape adhesion system.
Working time with material - 2 minutes 40 seconds( minimum period at a temperature of about 22 °).High temperature shortens the running time.
The use of cushioning material significantly reduces the risk of recurrences of caries. After the procedure, there is no postoperative sensitivity.
Side effects can occur only if the gasket is incorrectly installed and the mixing rules are violated.
Cost and analogues
The standard set of material Witrebond, produced by 3M USA, can be purchased for 3050 rubles, the price of a small set( powder - 4.5g) will be 2850 rubles, and a large set( 9g powder) - 5400 rubles.
In dentistry, similar cushioning materials are also used: Cavalite, Ionoseal. Often used pastes with calcium hydroxide in the composition.
