Some of the procedures in dental practice are carried out using composite materials.
These include the Osteomatrix series produced by the Konektbiopharm company.
Materials of this series are available in small packages in several forms, from which you can choose the most convenient for use.

Quality standard
Osteomatrix materials are the result of the use of the latest technologies. In their manufacture, the bone tissue of animals is used, which ensures their compatibility with the human body.
The collection of raw materials is carried out only at certified enterprises, where animals are subject to strict veterinary control. This allows us to produce high quality and safe materials.
Bone tissue is processed chemically and enzymatically. The process has a multi-stage nature, due to which a high degree of purification is achieved. At the same time, minerals and collagen proteins are retained in the finished product.
The structure of the biocomposite is similar to that of the human bone matrix. Thanks to this, the materials combine well with human tissue, and when using them, there are almost no side effects.
Another advantage of Osteomatrix is its non-toxicity. Due to this, they are becoming increasingly popular for the treatment of dental diseases.
Forms of issue
For dental needs, materials from this series are available in several forms in a blister packaging in vials with a capacity of 0.5 cm³, 1.0 cm³ of biomaterial in the form of granules, chips, crumbs or blocks:
- Blocks. Their sizes can vary from 5x5x5 mm - 5x10x30 mm.
- Chips with a size of 2-4 mm.
- Crumb - this type of material has a size of 1-2 mm.
- Granules 3-5 mm in size.
Properties of bone implants of the Osteomatrix series
Bone implants have been widely used in recent years and have received a lot of positive feedback.
Biocomposite material properties:
- Presence of natural bone collagen. It is associated with the technology of production of Osteomatrix, in the process of which non-collagen components are removed from the raw materials.
- High osteoinductiondue to the presence of collagen. Also, the material is distinguished by unchanged architectonics and natural porosity, which makes it perfectly combined with dental tissue.
- Promotes bone formation. This is due to the components of the composition: hydroxyapatite and bone collagen. They attract protein complexes to the damaged area, due to which bone regeneration occurs.
- Slow resorption. Due to bone collagen and hydroxyapatite, a slow rate of resorption is observed under the influence of osteoclasts and macrophages.
Application in dentistry
In dental practice, the material is used for various types of procedures.
Regenerative therapy
The need to use Osteomatrix in regenerative therapy is due to bone deficiency. The procedures are standard. When conducting them, great attention is paid to aesthetics and functionality.
Several techniques are used within the framework of regenerative therapy. To restore damage, they can use bone implants, auto-grafts, or a mixture of both. All of the above techniques can also be used with additions in the form of membranes, tires and guide nets.
Before carrying out any of these procedures, it is supposed to overlap the implantation site, for which a mucoperiosteal flap is used. The incisions are made at the maximum distance from the regeneration site.
Due to the anatomical arrangement of the vessels, vertical incisions are made medially. It is important to avoid movement of the flap and to prevent it from being pulled by the sutures. Subsequent edema can cause rupture. In some cases, it is recommended to use drainage, which is removed after a day. The use of a monofilament material can reduce the formation of microbial plaque.
In addition to the general rules, there are recommendations for suturing:
- Postoperative stitches are designed to heal the wound and provide homeostasis. Keeping the flap in tension is not one of their functions.
- Excessive tightening leads to the formation of necrotic foci. Secondary tension can cause longer healing or rejection of the applied material.
- As part of regenerative therapy, mattress stitches are used. If a membrane is present, a vertical suture is recommended to prevent infection. In the absence of a membrane, it is better to use a horizontal seam.
- The continuous suture type is suitable in areas where there is a lot of stress on the flap. If its length exceeds 3 cm, it is worth applying additional interrupted sutures.
Maxillofacial Surgery
In maxillofacial surgery, bone regeneration is done so often that it has become a routine. It is designed to restore lost functionality.
Bone grafting is used to:
- restore the contours of the skeleton of the face;
- prevent the penetration of epithelial tissues into the canals and sinuses;
- stimulate bone recovery in case of fractures;
- avoid dysfunctions in the bones of the alveoli.
The main indications for the use of Osteomatrix in this area are:
- root apex resection;
- cystectomy;
- tooth extraction;
- perforation of the maxillary sinus;
- fractures;
- extirpation.
In all these cases, the material in question is intended to fill voids and defects.
Periodontics
One of the most difficult tasks in dental practice is the fight against periodontitis. The difficulty of treatment lies in neutralizing the action of bacteria at the site of manipulation and performing hygiene procedures before and after surgery. It is very important that the patient understands the need for this work, otherwise the therapeutic effects will not lead to the desired result.
Treatment of periodontitis with biocomposite material implies the following goals:
- restoration of the dental apparatus;
- prevention of re-penetration of the epithelium into the damaged area;
- preservation of the tooth;
- elimination of cosmetic defects.
In periodontology, Osteomatrix is used for 2 and 3-wall defects, as well as for closing furcations. The choice of the applied technique depends on the extent of the damage. The more pronounced the defect, the more complex the techniques used.
If Osteomatrix is used in the form of a crumb, then an insulating membrane must be used. If the selected material is in the form of blocks, it is not necessary.
During treatment, the defect is filled with a bone implant or mixture. Its volume is maintained thanks to the structure of the material. It is necessary to prevent the loss of biomaterial and avoid the germination of epithelial tissue. This is achieved due to the characteristics of the insulating membrane.
Implantology
The activities of implantologists are aimed at eliminating cosmetic defects and improving the functionality of implants. Most of the procedures in this area require the use of materials that promote bone regeneration. This is what Osteomatrix is for.
Indications include:
- restoration of bones during implantation;
- partial resorption of bones near implants;
- sinus lift (conventional, with simultaneous or delayed implantation);
- formation of a bed for the installation of prostheses, etc.
The technique is chosen depending on the complexity of the damage. If the bone height is less than 5 mm, the surgery is performed in two stages. If the height exceeds the indicated one, you can carry out bone remodeling and implant placement at the same time.
For simple manipulations, the use of Osteomatrix is sufficient. In difficult cases, this material is used in conjunction with autogenous bone, and a membrane is used for fixation.
