Purpose and form of release
Unifas 2 is a zinc phosphate based dental cement. It has been used successfully in dentistry for many decades.
The main purpose of the material is to insulate fabrics, filling channels or fixation of dental structures.
The drug is available in the form of two mixing components:
- powder (100 g);
- special liquid (60 g).
Available in two colors - yellow # 23 and pale yellow # 21.
Properties of the modern composition
Initially, a drug called Unifas was produced, later the name was supplemented with the number 2.
Retaining all the physical and mechanical properties of the old cement and also possessing unique adhesion, Unifas-2 acquired additional functional capabilities.
The improved material contains a fluoride compound to increase the resistance of hard tissues. It is an anti-carious component, gives the drug a prophylactic effect.
The presence of a special alkaline composition gives the ability to act as an insulating and therapeutic dressing for the wound surface dentin.
A very fine powder consists of the following components:
- zinc oxide;
- magnesium oxide;
- silica;
- ammonium molybdenum;
- calcium hydroxide;
- bismuth oxide;
- sodium fluoride.
Composition of the hardening liquid:
- orthophosphoric acid;
- zinc oxide;
- aluminum hydroxide.
This phosphate cement is very plastic and safe, has good adhesion to dental tissues and good strength characteristics. Differs in radiopacity and low solubility. Promotes tissue regeneration and protects against development caries.
Indications, contraindications
The main indications for the use of Unifas cement are:
- filling of a tooth under an artificial crown;
- filling milk teeth;
- root canal sealing;
- dental mount prostheses;
- use as an insulating material for sealing.
Contraindications may be:
- an allergic reaction to the constituent components;
- the presence of large carious cavities;
- completely unformed root canals.
If you follow the instructions for use, Unifas 2 cement is absolutely safe and has no side effects.
Instructions for use
To prepare the cement composition, it is necessary to mix the two components. The recommended air temperature for mixing is 18 ° -23 ° C above zero. The powder is gradually stirred in a circular motion with the liquid until a plastic mass is obtained. The mixing time should be 60-90 seconds.
The finished mixture is applied to the prepared area, previously isolated from saliva and dried. The hardening time of the composition is 4-9 minutes.
