Dental cuvette: price, features, how it is applied

Many have experienced partial or complete loss of teeth. High quality prosthetics assumes the tandem of a dentistpodiatristworking with the patient, and dental technicianmaking prostheses. Some of their types require the use of a special design at the final stages, namely a dental cuvette.

What is it, appointment

The dental cuvette is a rectangular metal box with rounded corners. Designed for translation wax the design of the prosthesis in plastic. Its production is impossible without this stage. Alloys for the production of boxes: steel, brass and others, slightly susceptible to corrosion.

Design

Dental cuvette consists of 2 halves. At the bottom of the board is higher. This is necessary so that the plaster model fits entirely into the box, and the teeth protrude slightly above its edges. Failure to comply with the requirements leads to errors in the next step.

On the side surfaces of the lower part there are recesses corresponding to the protrusions on the upper half of the cuvette. Their precise, tight connection prevents misalignment relative to each other. The lower part has a bottom, the upper one has a lid.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages of modern dental cuvettes:

  • simplicity of design and operation;
  • resistance to corrosion and high temperatures;
  • does not deform under the pressure of the press;
  • easy to clean;
  • serves for a long time.

The disadvantages include the significant weight of the structure.

Achieving a technical result

When plastering the wax construction of the prosthesis in a cuvette, a bed with artificial teeth after the wax has been digested. At the next stage, they will be filled with plastic, allowing you to then “weld” the finished prosthesis. At the end of each action, the box is placed under a manual press. So excess material comes out, further work is facilitated.

Manufacturers, prices

The price of a dental flask depends on its material, size, and also on the manufacturer:

  • large collapsible brass box 3.101-1.2 - Sonis (Russia), from RUB 1,800, steel from RUB 1400;
  • JT-12 - medium aluminum model for plastics polymerization; Jintai (China), cost from 900 rubles;
  • JT-13 - duplicating aluminum model; Jintai (China), cost from 900 rubles;
  • JT-46 - medium bronze model for the polymerization of plastics, from 900 rubles;
  • model small / medium / large (steel, brass) wholesale from the manufacturer "PRISMA" (Russia), from 710 rubles.

How dentures are made

There are 3 ways of plastering models into cuvettes: direct, reverse, combined. More often they use a straight line. Regardless of the method, the algorithm is the same:

  • the model with the design of the prosthesis, if necessary, is trimmed and placed in the center of the cuvette, immersed in plaster;
  • wax parts, clasps and artificial teeth are not covered;
  • wait for the gypsum to harden and lubricate it with insulating varnish;
  • put the upper half of the cuvette on the lower one, fill everything with plaster to the brim, close it with a lid and clamp it under a press;
  • squeeze out the excess, leave it for a few minutes;
  • after hardening, the wax is boiled out according to the accepted algorithm;
  • the cuvette is taken out of the pan, carefully opened, the wax residues are washed out with boiling water and covered with warm gypsum with insulating varnish in 2-3 layers;
  • after cooling, the plastic is packed according to the accepted method, while after connecting the halves, the cuvette is twisted into a press and left for 15-20 minutes (minimum);
  • the prosthesis is boiled, and after the structure has cooled completely, it is removed by tapping the hammer.

A dental cuvette is indispensable and necessary. It is used in everyday practice to make temporary and permanent prostheses.
