The device is specially designed to simplify the packing of sutures into the gingival sulcus (in order to squeeze it out during certain manipulations). Due to the special structure of the stacker, the gums and the circular ligament of the tooth are slightly injured. This is possible due to the thin working part and notches that prevent the parker from slipping deep into the fabrics.

Packers are used for different clinical cases due to their rich assortment. An instrument with a thinner and smaller working part is used with a thin biotype of the gingiva, in which it is difficult to place a retraction thread. Larger retraction filament spreaders are used with a thick gum biotype or in the presence of a periodontal pocket, since the filament is easy to lay in this case.

We can say that the packer is a tabletop device for an orthopedic dentist, since a high-quality impression (dental impression) is impossible without high-quality filament placement. In therapeutic dentistry, their use fades into the background due to the use of cofferdam (latex cloth to isolate the working area) to protect the gums and the working area.
