Purifier: a novelty for water purification

New in the market of household appliances are water dispensers of a special class - purifiers. The name comes from the English word purifier, which means the purifier. These coolers have flow filtration of water.

What is the

purifier? The purifiers have become serious competitors to dispensers, where water is delivered through bottles. Dispensers of flow filtration have significant advantages, but also their shortcomings. What is the difference between the flow-through coolers and dispensers with the supply of water from the bottle?

The main difference is the technology of water supply to the dispenser. The purifier gets water from the water pipe with cold water. After that, in a special tank, water is purified, passes a certain filtration, and then is fed.

Filtration is carried out by two systems: reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration. In fact, the output is distilled water, devoid of all the useful elements that a person needs. This effect is produced by reverse osmosis. It completely deprives water of both harmful and useful elements.

Therefore, many manufacturers of purifiers add to their technology another stage of water treatment - artificial mineralization. Such purifiers fill the water with useful minerals after its primary purification. It is important for a person to receive these elements in sufficient quantities, especially during the hot season.

To what extent these minerals that are artificially saturated with water are assimilated by the body, it is impossible to say for sure, since studies have not been conducted. One can only assume that the use of minerals added artificially is significantly less than natural. But on the other hand, the harmful substances in the purified and specially saturated with minerals water is also less.

Acquisition of flow filtration dispensers is especially important in those regions where tap water has a high degree of contamination with various impurities. This cooler will help to clean water qualitatively, and also will not get dirty from the inside, like other filters.

It is worth paying attention to one significant minus cooler with reverse osmosis filtration. A significant part of the water that enters the dispenser does not pass through the cleaning membrane, but goes into the outlet. Therefore, it should be borne in mind that the water consumption will increase significantly if you start using a cooler with hyperfiltration.

Design and cleaning stages

The filters used are usually of complex construction. They consist of several filter blocks containing fine-pored carbon. Carbon is in a sealed, safe case, and helps to clean the water passing through it. The developers gave preference to the fine-pored carbon, because it has a higher efficiency than the granular carbon.

The second stage is disinfection with an ultraviolet lamp. Ultraviolet cleaning is necessary for dispensers, but not all models have this filtration unit. The importance of UV rays is explained by the fact that water passes a long way from the moment it hits the dispenser, before it enters the storage tank. To exclude the possibility of harmful microorganisms entering the water, ultraviolet purification was required. After all, humidity, dark and enclosed space inside the cooler is an ideal environment for the development of harmful bacteria. From the stagnation of water in the dispensers often formed biofilm, which can be dangerous to humans when ingested.

Purification filters in purifiers can be of two types. Firstly, it is an external filter, which is located next to the water pipe, outside the dispenser. The second type of filter is built-in, which is inside the case. When making a choice, it must be remembered that the closer the filter is installed to the source of water, the less chance that water enters the glass without cleaning.

All elements of the cleaning filters are made of materials approved before contact with the products, therefore for the person they are absolutely safe. Built-in filters in the purifiers are much easier to maintain and more convenient to change. Even people who do not have any experience in servicing dispensers can cope with built-in filters.
