Nowadays, vegetarianism is gaining more and more admirers. But, despite the deep conviction in the correctness of their choice, it is difficult for people to completely abandon animal food, moreover, strict vegetarianism is a serious stress for the body, and not all of it is shown. For many people, such as children, the elderly, the complete rejection of animal proteins is very harmful, and can cause serious damage to health. In this regard, there were several "half-vegetarian" diets, among which was Peketarianism.
What is Pescetarianship
Pescetarianship is a diet that allows the consumption of fish and seafood. With strict vegetarians, they are closely related to the total rejection of red meat and poultry meat. Among the Pescetarians there are those who allow the consumption of eggs and various dairy products.
Vegetarian followers do not recognize that the Pescetarians of their cousins, they admit their diet only as a certain stage on the way to vegetarianism.
The diet of the Piscetarians is made up of vegetable products and oils, fish and seafood. In comparison with vegetarianism, this method of nutrition is more similar to the human body. For many people living in the Caribbean islands, in countries of northern Europe and some Asian countries, such a diet is a habitual diet.
Pescetarianship is very close to the Mediterranean diet developed by Dr. W. Willet in the 90s of the 20th century. The diet is based on gastronomic habits of the inhabitants of Greece, Southern Italy and the island of Crete. With this diet people eat vegetables and fruits, olive oil for them serves as the main source of fat, they have dairy products, especially yogurt and cheeses. Eggs are allowed to eat limited, no more than 4 pieces per day. The basis of food consists of fish dishes and seafood dishes, with garnishes of cereals and vegetables. Sometimes dishes from poultry are used, and it is recommended to drink one glass of red dry wine a day.
Pros and cons of Pescetarianship
Pesketariatians are firmly convinced that red meat harms the human body, and therefore refuses to use it. And they think correctly, red meat contains a lot of fat and cholesterol, but it is quite poor for the content of vitamins and beneficial microelements.
Doctors say that adherents of this diet are much less likely to suffer from obesity and diabetes, hypertension and cancer.
If the diet of the peskeretrians is planned correctly, there are enough proteins, correct fats, carbohydrates and vitamins, then this is a great way to be healthy and keep youth for many years.
