It should be noted that the described "Japanese diet" has almost nothing to do with the traditional diet of the Japanese. Japan is a country focused on the sea, and the basis of Japanese food is seafood. Mountainous terrain impedes the development of agriculture, so agriculture in Japan has not received much development. The main crop is rice, in small quantities wheat, barley, soybeans and other cereals are grown. Even more weakly in Japan is developed livestock, therefore meat and dairy products have spread only in recent years, and their share in the Japanese diet is very low. Citrus( mandarins and oranges), apples, pears, bananas, peaches, cherries are widely distributed.

According to the Japanese themselves, the usual food of the inhabitants of the country of the rising sun( we can say, the traditional Japanese diet:) looks like this:
300-400 grams of rice,
150-300 g of fruit,
200-300 g of vegetables,
50 grams of legumes,
100-150 grams of fish,
100 grams of milk,
no more than one egg,
2 teaspoons of sugar.
Men sometimes drink 300-400 g of beer a day.

At the same time, the Japanese are very resourceful cooks. From such a modest set of products, they can cook a huge variety of various dishes. The most ordinary Japanese meal often includes from 5 to 20 dishes in the most bizarre combinations. But coffee Japanese people use a little, traditionally preferring green tea.

Thus, traditional Japanese food is low-calorie, about 1600-1800 kcal, rich in carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins of group B and C, iron and phosphorus. Japanese fats are consumed in small quantities and mostly vegetable.

And now the Japanese diet, which has entered into fashion, is very low-calorie( on some days the caloric content of the diet drops to 700 kcal.), But at the same time it prescribes to consume a large amount of fat( up to 60% of the total caloric content of the daily ration) and protein and a small amount of carbohydrates(on some days less than 15 grams per day). The Japanese diet is also characterized by a very small content of almost all the basic microelements( potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron) and most vitamins( in particular, vitamins C and E, folic acid, etc.).

It should also be noted that the mandatory almost daily use of black coffee severely limits the indication for the safe use of the Japanese diet.
