Almost every person has heard about arsenic, one of the main dental attributes. He is known for a long time to the world, but recently his popularity has come to an end somewhat due to the fact that in addition to the ability to eliminate strong toothache, this agent has a negative effect on the human body, gradually poisoning it.
However, despite this, arsenic is still used in almost every state polyclinic due to its low price. In view of the toxicity of arsenic, it sometimes needs to be urgently removed from the tooth, in which cases is it necessary and is it possible to do it yourself without a risk to health?
If there is no other choice
After placing arsenic in the cavity of the tooth, the doctor appoints the date of the next visit, the day that it will be removed. And to postpone the appointed date for a later period is not advised, even if the tooth has ceased to hurt. This will lead to unnecessary complications, therefore it is unacceptable to overdose arsenious anhydride in the tooth for more than 3 days.
If for some reason there is no possibility to visit the dentist, and the appointed time is already on the way, you can try to get arsenic out yourself or ask your relatives to do it.
This procedure should be handled responsibly and in accordance with disinfection rules. First you need to brush your teeth, wash your hands thoroughly with an antibacterial agent, wipe the sewing needle, syringe or other suitable instrument with alcohol or a solution of potassium permanganate.
Stand at the mirror and provide a place for conducting the procedure with good lighting. Remove the upper part of the soft temporary seal, do not go below it and try not to touch the gum. Movements should be smooth, but at the same time fast enough to pull a grayish mush.
After successful extraction of the medicine, rinse the mouth with a decoction of chamomile or a solution of soda. Attach a cotton swab that will serve as a barrier between the food and the killed nerve. In the near future, contact the dentist, as the destroyed nerve will decompose along with the inflammatory reaction, which will cause further problems.
Why amateur performance can be dangerous?
What are the dangers of independent arsenic stretching and why is it better to see a doctor?
A dentist is a specialized doctor, he knows how to quickly and painlessly extract arsenic from the tooth. Independent extraction can lead to irreparable consequences.
Many doctors use arsenic in combination with rather strong composite materials. To pull out such a hard paste is difficult, and sometimes just impossible. Such an attempt may result in the fact that arsenic will crumble and its constituent particles will enter the gastrointestinal tract.
The best way is to pull arsenic out of the doctor's instructions, however, if you are not sure of your abilities, contact a specialist. And even if the pain caught you unawares in the middle of the night, remember that there is always a doctor on duty in the hospital.
Why do we need arsenic and do we need anything at all?
It has long been known that arsenic has a toxic effect. And it concerns not only rodents, but also humans( a lethal dose of 5 to 50 mg, depending on the characteristics of the body).
And yet, why is such a dangerous element popular with an ordinary dentist?
It turns out that arsenic in the literal sense of this word affects the exposed nerve, which leads to destruction of the latter and, as a consequence, an analgesic effect. Especially often it is used for inflammation of various locations, when the nerve shows its presence with very strong painful sensations.
Since at this stage in the development of dentistry a large number of safe nerve removal devices have been produced that do not contain any hazardous components, arsenic is used only in the following cases:
- presence of allergic reactions to anesthetics;
- need to cure the tooth as soon as possible;
- treatment by the doctor on duty as a result of the presence of urgent indications;
- absence of reaction of the body to the effect of anesthetics;
- no possibility to use anesthetic because of the patient's various health problems;
- dental treatment in children if local anesthesia is not possible.
It is important to understand that the expert is more competent than anyone, even the most well-read patient. Do not do without extreme need self-medication!
