Reflective paste Calcimol is a single component radiopaque substance that is actively used in modern dentistry as a cushioning material when installing seals. The main task of the material is to create a coating for the pulp, which will then be directly sealed.
Calcimol is used as a gasket for almost all modern materials used to create seals, is able to protect the tooth from various kinds of active substances, in particular acids, and also significantly improve the overall quality and durability of the seal produced.

Composition and Form of Release
Calcimol is based on calcium hydroxide and impurity components. Produced in the form of a liquid paste.
For maximum ease of use in the package, there are two special syringes with curved needles. The weight of each syringe is 2.5 grams.
The substance itself is contained in two tubes, each containing 5 grams of the drug. In one of the tubes there is a basic paste, and in the other - a catalyst paste. Immediately before use, they must be mixed together in equal proportions to a homogeneous mass.
Properties and uses of
paste The material has a number of useful properties that make its use very convenient when sealed. Among them, the following are particularly important:
- high mechanical strength and ability to resist destructive factors;
- material well isolates pulp from penetration of bacteria;
- is radiocarbon-intensive, which helps the dentist to make them better when setting seals;
- also this substance can protect the tooth from the destructive effects of various acids, for example, during the etching process.
These properties along with ease of use have made Calcimol one of the most common drugs in many dental clinics.
The main task that is put before this paste is to create a quality gasket for installing the seal. It should have an antibacterial effect, cover the tooth pulp well and quickly harden so that the sealing process passes more quickly.
Also Calcimol promotes the formation of secondary dentin, which strengthens the tooth and additionally supports tooth enamel.
Features of using
It is worth remembering that the prepared solution is only suitable for 2 minutes, so it should be prepared immediately before use.
To prepare a batch of the mixture, it is necessary to take the same amount of base and catalyst paste. On the glass plate or the mixing unit, these two components are mixed until uniform.
Tooth before use, Calcimol must first be well cleaned and dried. It is not allowed to find moisture on the tooth surface. When preparing the surface for paste, it is necessary to observe all established rules of adhesive sealing technique. To ensure that the edges of the tooth did not crack and there were no bacteria, it is necessary to conduct additional measures for insulation.
To polymerize the solution, the light source must be brought to the tooth surface as closely as possible - about 1-2 mm apart. In this position, polymerization takes place in about 20 seconds. If the light source is located further, the polymerization will take more time.
In cases where it is necessary to apply more than 1 mm of the gasket from the material, it must be applied by layers and also polymerized. If too much solution was put on the tooth, the excess can be removed with the help of special tools.
Special instructions
The preparation has a high degree of stability, therefore it will not be possible to remove its surplus using a simple probe. To do this, it is best to use a rotating tool with a suitable nozzle.
During the application of the solution, it is important that no direct light enters it, as this will speed up the already relatively fast polymerization process. It is necessary to do the laying of the gasket quickly, without any embarrassment.
Calcimol adheres very well to a variety of dental materials. To exclude its contact with other substances and remove the already applied gasket, an insulation layer made of materials such as, for example, petrolatum or glycerin gel, can be used.
Before further processing, the insulation layer should be removed and the area cleaned thoroughly. If the power of the light flux directed to the material is insufficient - this will lead to its longer and poor-quality polymerization.
The substance may not completely solidify and not have the required strength level. Keep the medicine at a temperature of 4 - 23 degrees Celsius.
The cost of the drug and its analogues
Among the popular analogues of Calcimol, which have approximately the same cost as this drug( about 1500-2000 rubles), you can identify such substances:
- Base.it;
- Calcipulpe;
- Cavalite;
- Ionoseal and some others.
When choosing this or that remedy, it is necessary to look at its properties and composition - it is important that the patient does not have an allergy to the components used in it.
