Female body is complex and multifaceted, all the processes in it are interdependent. This is especially true of what is happening in the mammary glands and the reproductive system. The appearance of tumors in the breast will not pass unnoticed for the latter.
On the other hand, cyclic processes in the genital organs affect various kinds of breast tumors. In particular, such a common neoplasm as fibroadenoma, with menses manifests itself differently than in another cycle period.

What is fibroadenoma?
Fibroadenoma is a pathological increase in connective tissue in the mammary glands. It can expand, surrounding the ducts or germinating in them, combine both features, be lobular, homogeneous, and leaflike.
It's no secret that the process of regular updating of the mucous uterus is regulated mainly by these hormones. Thanks to them:
- All other performing roles in the menstrual period of the substance work;
- The dominant follicle is defined;
- The egg is ripe;
- The endometrium develops.
Symptoms before menstruation
Detection of the neoplasm in the chest often causes shock and panic. Fibroadenoma is not an exception, as it is known that in norm it is not painful, at first it does not cause much discomfort. Detect it yourself is easy only when probing the breast, the tumor clearly stands out among healthy tissues.
Fear can cause morbidity, because newly emerging sensations make one doubt whether fibroadenoma hurts before menstruation. The woman starts to think that it's not her at all, but a malignant tumor. The other extreme, which can cause pain, when it is taken for the symptom of PMS.
In fact, fibroadenoma before menstruation experiences the pressure of surrounding tissues. The reasons for this are not one:
- The impact of hormones. Thanks to the increased values of prolactin and estrogens, blood flows to the tissues. Do not forget that with this diagnosis, the second substance is already detected in an overestimated amount. For the same reasons, the lactiferous ducts expand, which also contributes to increasing the load on nearby tissues. The tumor cells are squeezed, transferring vibrations to the nerves. This causes pain, which is noted not only in the area of fibroadenoma location, but it will be stronger there.
- Puffiness. This is one of the manifestations of premenstrual syndrome, caused by the retention of water in the body. Since the estrogens that contribute to this have the greatest impact on the mammary glands, puffiness is noted in them. Excess fluid makes the breast lobules wider and denser, this fibroadenoma hurts before menstruation.
These feelings become weaker and go all the way to the end of the critical days. The breast acquires the usual sizes and a kind, the superfluous water leaves, the blood ceases to adhere to fabrics in the raised volume.
This does not mean that a woman can calm down and live without paying attention to illness. It is the regular increase in blood supply that stimulates the development of the neoplasm.
Removal of malignancy
Initially, if the lesion is small, it is determined that it is not a leaf-shaped form, it is simply followed by ultrasound and mammography. But in the end it must be removed with part of the breast tissue or one.
This is especially important in the planning of pregnancy, because the hormonal background in it is favorable not only for the growth of the tumor, but also for the degeneration of its cells into malignant ones.
With reference to what is happening in the chest at the end of the cycle, it is unclear whether it is possible to perform the operation of fibroadenomas to monthly. In many respects it depends on the doctor. The majority are sure that the puffiness, increase and soreness of the tissues peculiar to this period will interfere with the qualitative intervention. There is a risk of damage to the healthy and leaving the cells of the tumor in place. The likelihood of injury to the milk ducts is also high.
Any of the dangers, especially all of them together, do not contribute to healing, rapid postoperative recovery. Increased breast tenderness in the premenstrual period will make the operation for the patient more severe. And the subsequent menstruation, in which the blood liquefies, will complicate both rehabilitation and healing of the sutures.
But other specialists do not take into account the possible difficulties, believing that modern equipment allows you to ignore them without harming the quality of the operation and the patient's well-being.
We advise you to read what diseases cause disorders of the menstrual cycle. You will learn about the possible causes of the failure, its independent determination and methods of treatment. In certain diseases, surgical intervention may be necessary.
Menstruation after surgery
Important is the question of what will be the monthly after the removal of fibroadenomas, since they are so interrelated. In general, their characteristics may remain the same as they were before the disease, only a little decrease in soreness and abundance.
The only manifestation, which changes almost all, is the length of the cycle. At the postoperative stage, it may extend, that is, a woman will be disturbed by delay, sometimes up to 2 weeks. It provokes a greater degree of non-removal of the tumor, and the attendant factors are:
- Stress. It is caused by the excitement associated with the operation and its results. The material is sent for histology to disprove and confirm the presence of atypical cells in the tumor. Many women are worried about how the breasts will look.
- Anesthesia. This is also a stress factor, but refers to the field of physiology, not psychology.
- Pain. Intervention of any level occurs with the use of anesthetics, but some unpleasant sensations after it are inevitable. The harder a woman tolerates them, the stronger they affect the delay.
If there is an excess of estrogens and a deficiency of progesterone in fibroadenoma, it is possible to administer drugs that increase the concentration of the latter in the blood. Then the monthly ones will cease to be painful and is abundant, as it was before the tumor was removed. Choosing and taking them yourself is very risky, so you can cause new negative changes in the tissues of the breast.
Fibroidadenoma manifests itself in menstruation in such a way that it is difficult not to pay attention to it. It significantly enhances soreness in the mammary glands.
And although the development of breast cancer with fibroadenoma occurs in a minority of cases, it itself is capable of delivering many discomforts. So the campaign to the doctor should take place as soon as possible, and the control of the tumor and the course of the menstrual period.
